It's been a long and tough winter for us all through Lockdown 3.0 - but the end is fast approaching, following the government's four-step plan to end shutdown.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised that the 'end really is in sight' as he revealed the route out of lockdown.

Speaking in the House of Commons on Monday afternoon Mr Johnson detailed the road back to normality for us all - which includes pub beer gardens reopening on April 12th.

One of Falmouth's newest pubs The Moth & The Moon, on Killigrew Street, reacted to the news by saying, "it's going to be so lovely to be able to welcome people back into our cosy little pub."

Way back in February 2020, The Moth & The Moon, reopened under new management aiming to provide a traditional pub experience in a warm and welcoming setting.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the pub hasn't been able to stay open fully for very long, running as an off-licence during lockdown.

Now with some clarity, owner Matt Reay is looking forward to welcoming people back to the pub.

Matt told Nub News:

"It does feel more comfortable knowing that there is at least a plan set out with preliminary dates and targets that need to be hit before each stage is enacted.

"Not 100% sold on the order and speed of the plan, but hopefully, they'll keep listening to the science, and reacting appropriately with a decent level of transparency even if it means having to deviate from the plan if it's the right thing to do.

"If everything does go to plan and the level of risk is appropriate it's going to be so lovely to be able to welcome people back into our cozy little pub for a pint of real ale or cider, a glass of organic wine, or a cocktail or three on the roof terrace.

What are the Moth's plans going forward?

Matt added:

"We'll probably ease in with just our little off-sales bar The Moth Licence (which will be an integral part of our business from now on) when outside hospitality is allowed to open, and then fully open the doors of The Moth & The Moon in May when all areas are hopefully allowed."
