It is thought that over 100 people gathered at The Moor on Sunday (16th) at a "Refugees Welcome in Cornwall Demonstration."

Shot by Alex Falconer, a film has been released showing the turnout of people. The movement was organised by Guin Evere and backed by local group Falmouth and Penryn Welcome Refugee Families.

The video description reads:

"A demonstration to counter the anti-refugee rhetoric that has been rife in the UK media. Over 100 people came together at short notice to express solidarity and support with refugees & to let them know there is a movement of people who are on their side."

In the film, people can be seen holding signs, 'refugees welcome', 'no human is illegal' as speeches were given on The Moor to show support for those in distress.

Jennifer Forbes from Truro and Falmouth Labour attended, she said on social media:

"Really heartwarming demonstration in Falmouth. We want to help refugees & want to live in a country that want to do that too."
