Visit of mega cruise ship to Falmouth will provide business boost over bank holiday weekend
Princess Cruises 'Enchanted Princess' is due to make a stop in Falmouth on bank holiday Monday.
The mega cruise ship, which weighs 145,000 tons, is intending to call into Falmouth on a repositioning cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Southampton where she'll cruise out of until the autumn.
Facilities on board the ship include a sports court, mini-golf, casino, swimming pools, restaurants, a theater, and an art gallery.
Enchanted Princess is set to make a stop in Falmouth on bank holiday Monday.
It is currently unknown exactly how many passengers will be on the ship - Enchanted Princess has a capacity for 3,600 guests and 1,400 crew members but covid restrictions means a lower capacity.
The ship anchoring in the bay depends on the weather. If there's a swell or difficult conditions she won't stop in Falmouth, but that won't be known until much closer to/on the day.
"The weather doesn't stop us all from planning for the visit," Falmouth BID manager Richard Wilcox said.
Falmouth BID confirmed the ship is planning to anchor from around 7am and departing around 6pm. The first passengers will likely come into town from 8:30am onwards.
Richard added:
"It should provide a significant business boost to add to the weekend. There will be a lot of work going on behind the scenes, as there always is, to ensure that we provide a fantastic Falmouth welcome and experience to all."
