UPDATE: Explosive device found in Penryn has been 'made safe'

The explosive device discovered in Penryn has been 'made safe' by the Royal Navy.

A police spokesperson updated Nub News that the device is no longer dangerous but the incident remains ongoing.

Police, Royal Navy and the Fire Service are currently attending the incident on New Street, Penryn.

The 'suspicious incendiary device' was found at the back door of the Masonic Lodge at 11.10am this morning, a 20-metre cordon was put in place.

A police spokesperson previously told Nub News:

"A team from the Royal Navy Explosive Ordinance Control attended while door to door enquiries were carried out.

"Police are treating the discovery as arson with intent to endanger life."

The incident remains ongoing.
