You may have heard the recent announcement that Falmouth will be holding its first-ever food festival between the 26th and 28th of May 2023 at the lower section of the Church Street Car park.

I got in touch with organiser Harry Mills who currently runs the Solskin Coffee & Cocktail Haus at The Poly to find out more.

Harry began to explain how the idea came about when he and his old friend Barney Farnworth got back in touch, he said: "Me and my friend Barney from school had a bit of a chance meeting and decided to have a catch up on dinghy around Falmouth harbour. We quickly realised we had a lot of the same passions and interests, mainly being how much we love Falmouth and all that goes on here.

"We're both local boys from the town and love everything about it, especially the number of great events that take place here. Barney has previously worked at events and festivals, and with my current business and interests the idea just came about naturally over a few ciders."

The pair has received nothing but positive responses from local businesses and the council, Harry said their only worry was that someone would tell them that idea has already been done.

Falmouth Food Festival will make use of the space at the Church Street waterfront car park, Back in October Falmouth Town Council launched a website to discuss different plans for the site, many of the proposals included using the area for events like this.

The festival itself will not only be a celebration of food but drink, music, and all kinds of arts and crafts, although many of the pitches have now been filled Harry said they will be looking to support lots of local businesses and talent such as musicians.

As my conversation with Harry came to end it was clear how excited he was moving forward but also confident that the festival could grow and grow each year becoming one of the main events on the Falmouth calendar.

There will be updates coming soon about stalls and musicians so be sure to follow them on social media.
