Boslowick Barbers, Falmouth, has joined a campaign called "Barbers Against Blades".

Senior barber Sarrelle McCann and her partner Sam run Boslowick Barbers in Falmouth, Cornwall. They have been open for three years now, and in that time have become a key part of the community.

Now Sarrelle and her team are helping in the fight against knife crime.

Sarelle McCann told Nub News:

"We decided to join Barbers Against Blades because it is a great thing to have in our local area to keep people safe.

"It is quite a good opportunity for us to get the word out there that we can talk about anything.

"We have not got a massive issue with it here in Falmouth yet but it is something that is quite concerning.

"It is for every person that feels they need to get rid of something or don't want in their possession."

The barbers has an amnesty box in the shop for people to dispense items in.

Barbers Against Blades was set up by Lock Stock and Barber in South Petherton, Somerset, with the aim of raising awareness of knife crime at street level, educate people about knives and provide a safe place of confidence and raise money for youth projects.

All the money that is made by Barbers Against Blades goes towards education and youth work.

Sarelle added:

"It is not going to take long for this issue to hit Cornwall, we think if we can actually prevent this a little bit and get the word out there then it will actually help the cause.

"It is all about our next generation, we are helping to educate them."
