The Falmouth artist dedicated to helping Australia's bushfire crisis
A Falmouth artist is selling her paintings to raise money for the work being done in tackling the current fire crisis in Australia.
Rhianna Spyrou, Fine Art student at Falmouth University, spent time volunteering on organic farms in Australia back in August.
Many of her paintings are inspired by her time there and are created using recycled material with natural pigments.
Australia is currently experiencing the worst fire crisis it has seen in recent history, with large chunks of the country still engulfed in flames.
Rhianna spoke to Nub News:
"I want all proceeds to go directly to RedcrossAus, this cause really hit a sore spot, thinking of the families that I had a pleasure to stay with and how it is affecting their home.
"But that is not my sole reason. These fires are devastating, and they do not only affect Australia, but they also affect our whole planet and the species we share it with.
"These bushfires have emitted over 250m tonnes of CO2, almost half of the country's annual emissions, let that sink in.
"Their crisis is our crisis and we need to help in any way we can. I want my paintings to mean that these people receive the help they need."
