Cornwall Council has launched a survey to get feedback and ideas on how to deliver care in the county and what changed need to be made so more people are able to access the care they need.

The survey is encouraging residents to give their thoughts as part of a programme to deliver better care. The council has also produced this video:

Cornwall Council say a new approach to how they work with care providers looks at introducing increased flexibility around visit times that will result in a more even level of demand throughout the day.

The council hopes this will allow for a fairer, more efficient deployment of the workforce, while also reducing mileage.

Cllr Andy Virr, Cornwall Council cabinet member for adult social care and health said:

"By making some small changes our care workers, who do a fantastic job supporting people in Cornwall, will have some time freed up, allowing more people to be supported within our existing workforce.

"At the moment, we support over 2000 people with home care services but there are numbers of people waiting for the care they need at home. Although this situation has improved significantly, we want to make sure that people always have the right care, in the right place, at the right time."

The survey will run until Monday, 19 June 2023. After this the information that people have provided will be used to shape how care provision will be purchased in the future, creating a plan for how care providers are asked to deliver care and support to people in Cornwall.

As well as the survey the council will be talking to a range of stakeholders, including people who provide care, people receiving care, and partners in the voluntary sector.
