Second community meeting for Pendennis Headland takes place
Last night (21st March) was the second of the three planned community meetings at Falmouth Rugby Club to discuss the future of the Pendennis Headland and the old Ships and Castles site.
Over 40 people joined the Pendennis Leisure team for the meeting including representatives from various user groups and industries, local residents and users of leisure facilities, local town and Cornwall Councillors, and children representing several local schools to discuss the long-term plans for a swimming and leisure facility that the whole town can use and be proud of.
The meeting also highlighted the challenges still to come, and the short to medium-term "meanwhile" plans to best utilise the space until they can match the community's ambition. There was also a chance to recap the fantastic efforts by so many people last weekend at the big tidy-up event – the next one will be announced soon.
The Pendennis Leisure team were upbeat after the meeting, they said: "The engagement, ideas, and suggestions were inspiring and covered diverse uses including sports, treatments, classes, studio timetables, opening hours, amphitheaters, bushcraft, gardening and agriculture, forest school – even indoor farming in our purpose built greenhouse – and the children even worked on design ideas for their future pool and swimwear."
The Pendennis Leisure team were delighted with the amount of support, they said: "Plenty more people signed up to our notifications and volunteer list, which you can also do on our website – please do get in touch and keep following for more news.
"Thanks again to our amazing attendees for showing the passion that is evident across a diverse selection of our community – you are awesome."
