A charity raising money to support Cornwall teenagers fighting cancer has opened a new shop and cafe in Penryn.

Large numbers of people turned out this week for the opening day of the shop in the Memorial Hall - with the ribbon being cut by Skinner's Brewery mascot and charity fundraiser Betty Stogs.

Sasha Would've Loved It was set up in 2019 in memory of Sasha Watson, Falmouth, who lost her battle with cancer in 2015.

The charity aims to provide experiences, adventures, and fun for Cornish teenagers fighting cancer.

Speaking to Nub News Sasha's mum and founder Michelle Bray said plans for the shop and cafe have been in the pipeline for around 12 months, with fundraising taking place alongside their everyday jobs. Fundraising for the cafe/shop included skydives and zipwires among many other events.

Michelle told Nub News:

"The volunteers helping out are friends and family - they've all been very supportive. We have a really good time doing it, it has been fun.

"The hall was only a chance conversation before Christmas. We were doing an event in the town hall and I got talking to one of the Penryn councillors, they told me about the hall becoming available. It initially started off as using it for events and coffee mornings, then as a committee we got together and decided to open it as a shop.

"All donations are appreciated, we have a wide range of everything you need, and everything you didn't think you needed."

The shop is based in The Stuart Stephens Memorial Hall, open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm.
