Rowe's Cornish Bakers hope to start selling pasties from an e-bike at Pendennis Point, Falmouth.

The plans were heard last night (Monday 21st) at Falmouth Town Council's Licensing Committee meeting.

W C Rowe had submitted a street trading application to trade at Pendennis Point from a branded electric bike from May to September, Wednesdays to Sundays 9am-5pm selling pasties, sausage rolls, slices, and scones.

Not something you usually see in Cornwall, the idea was inspired after a trip to London, with Rowe's hoping to capture the holiday trade on the point.

The bike won't be serving coffees or ice cream - this will avoid conflict with anyone else in the area.

"It is a new venture for us," the spokesperson for Rowe's commented.

The bike will adhere to all food safety regulations and will have different compartments in the box for hot and cold food. Stock will be refreshed on the bike throughout the day.

Cllr Eva commented:

"I think it is a great initiative, it really is clever. I have been to London a few times and you see these on the streets, they're well used. I have no doubt that this will be used. I'm fully supportive of this."

The committee voted to support the application - which will now go to Cornwall Council.
