A bakery-bar hybrid business looks set to expand into Falmouth.

Lawrance's Bakery & Bar, with a popular establishment in Truro, is in the process of getting their new shop ready on Discovery Quay (next door to Musto).

Lawrance's was first set up in 2019 by Phil Lawrance and Lucy Curnow with the idea of creating a quirky, cute bakery and bar brand.

The owners were speaking last night (Monday 21st) at Falmouth Town Council's Licensing Committee meeting. They had applied for a licence for on and off-sales of alcohol Monday to Sunday from 11am to 11:30pm.

At the meeting, Phil Lawrance said the new shop will create full-time and part-time jobs - they're currently advertising for supervisors, front of house, and cocktail enthusiasts.

He added:

"We have a premises in Truro and we are probably the only one that doesn't have any door staff because we don't get any trouble. People come for a drink before meals and a nice drink before they go home afterward. It will be higher-end - there won't be 4 jägerbombs for £10. Food-wise, we will be doing bagels, cakes made in-house, and smoothie bowls."

Cllr Eva said it was a "no brainer" to accept the application.

The committee voted to support the application - which will now go to Cornwall Council.
