There will be a closure on New Street, Penryn tomorrow for work on an overhead structure.

It will be in place to provide a safe working area for engineers to access telegraph poles in order to provide fibre overhead cabling.

The closure will be from 09:30 to 15:30.

The traffic notice reads:

"Notice is hereby given that Cornwall Council intends to make the order to prohibit the use by motor vehicles over an area of highway being New Street Penryn for its entire length.

"The Council is satisfied that the order is needed because works are being executed on or near the road to carry out works to an overhead structure.

"The Order will come into operation on 13th January and the works are expected to be completed by the 13th January.

"Nothing in this order will apply to emergency services, cyclists, traffic associated with the works required within the highway specified above, any vehicle being used for the purposes of an undertaker in an emergency, such as loss of utility supplies and anything done with the permission of or at the discretion of a police officer."

Pedestrian and vehicular access to residents and businesses will be maintained.

Road closure to affect bus services

OTS have said it will be unable to operate in Penryn Town Centre whilst the work is being done.

A spokesperson for OTS Minibus and Coach Hire said:

"During this time, our Transport for Cornwall services 42, 69 & 69A will be unable to serve Penryn town centre.

"All services will divert via Commercial Road. Passengers should use the stops at Penryn Bridge or Commercial Road (near the 'Just Delights' shop) instead."
