Revised plans have been submitted for the development of a skatepark in Falmouth, Dracaena Avenue.

The changes to the designs are to address the issue of drainage, services easement requirements and on-site parking.

Drainage has been an issue that needed to be overcome since the site is deemed to be a critical damage area. Now, permission has been granted to drain rainwater to an existing on-site stormwater drain.

The revised parking plans incorporate formal parking spaces to replace the informal ones that previously existed on the site.

The new parking plans address the aesthetical improvements as well as on-site safety to cars parking on the approach road verges.

The car parking in the designs has managed to increase number of spaces in the original application from 11 to 12 plus a disabled bay.

The result of these changes is that the skatepark has been reduced in size in comparison to the design that obtained outline planning permission previously.

In conclusion, the design and access statement reads:

"The proposed revised design has managed to encapsulate the desires of the local and wider riding community while at the same time acknowledging the need to ensure the design will be seen as appropriate to the site in both size and appearance.

"Sympathetic landscaping proposals ensure the design will not jar from the perspective of visitors to the park who are not skate park users and once established, we believe the skatepark and its associated planting scheme will enhance the aesthetics of the site which is currently merely flat and uninteresting.

"Overriding all of this is the provision of a facility Falmouth has been lacking since the old skatepark was demolished. A vibrant riding community in Cornwall and beyond have been waiting for this for years and the economic benefits this can bring to Falmouth through skate tourism simply cannot be discounted.

"It will be a facility Falmouth will be proud to promote and the potential for the physical wellbeing of its potential users is undisputed. We commend the design as a beacon of excellence throughout Cornwall."
