Restaurant Meudon chalks up top accolade in first year
Restaurant Meudon is celebrating after being awarded silver in the Restaurant of the Year category at the Cornwall Tourism Awards - less than a year after first opening.
Situated at Hotel Meudon, near Mawnan Smith, the team said they are "blown away" with the achievement - in what is a successful period for the Hotel and Restaurant.
Accepting the award, Hotel Meudon General Manager Samantha Banks, said:
"I am absolutely blown away with this achievement and so proud of our team who are all new but have come together under the stewardship of our Restaurant Manager Stephen Mouser and Executive Head Chef Darren Kerley to deliver something exceptional.
"We started out with a clear vision and it's extremely gratifying that this has been recognised."
"Cornish by birth, chef Darren has worked at some of the best establishments in and outside of London including Bob Bob Ricard, Le Manoir Aux Quat Saisons, and the Dorchester, and it's a real treat to see this talent transferred to this beautiful part of Cornwall," adds Samantha.
The aspirational Cornish setting of Hotel Meudon is integral to the food and drink being served, from the bountiful fresh fish and seafood to locally farmed meats and seasonal game.
Menus are underpinned by a nod to Nouvelle cuisine, reflecting the hotel's heritage. Diners can look forward to relaxed fine dining, from the lunchtime Prix Fixe menu to the creative a la carte evening fare, with exceptional desserts and patisserie.
