The residents of Budock Water have expressed their delight following the news the village would be getting its own mobile post office.
Budock resident Keith Rashleigh set up the petition last week, which gained over 100 signatures in a matter of days.
The original Post Office in Budock closed in October 2008.
During the election, David Saunby, Cornwall Councillor for Budock, said he was going to push for a post office to be reintroduced in the village.
The new mobile Post Office will be situated in the Trelowarren Arms each Thursday from 9am to midday (slightly longer if necessary), starting on Thursday 29th July.
In addition, tea, coffee, and cakes will be on offer, something to enjoy while you wait or after you have finished dropping off your post.
"Thanks to everyone for supporting," Mr Rashleigh said.
Speaking on the news, Councillor Saunby added:
"This was one of my election pledges if elected to do my very best to try and get a post office back into Budock Water.
"After many weeks of negotiations with the post office, and other bodies, we now have the green light to operate a mobile post office through the sub-postmaster, Brian Smith of Rame Post Office, at the Trelowarren Arms thanks to the kindness of Anna and Martin Kevanagh, after a trial set up this morning to see if a mobile signal could be obtained to operate the post office equipment.
"Remember, this will be on a 4 week trial period starting on 29th July, so it could be a case of use it or lose it.
"Access to the post office will be through the side door of the Trelowarren Arms, with parking to the rear, and please don't forget to keep signing the petition in the Trelowarren Arms and the village shop."
