Falmouth residents have voiced their concerns over the new design of the wall that is being built around The Liner development.

A post shared in the Falmouth Down The Years group gained nearly 200 comments as a large majority branded the wall out of keeping with the area.

Pictures of the wall being put up over the weekend were posted by Gordon Fielder, "At Gyllyngvase, around the new hotel. Not impressed. Strange angles, wide pointing. Doesn't fit or blend in with anything," he said.

Today it was revealed that residents would get the chance to have a say on The Liner parking restrictions, with a consultation open to the public.

Some of the comments on the post read:

"I am a professional stonewaller, I feel sorry for those told to do it."

A second read:

"The wall is an eyesore. Like the building. Totally out of context for a Cornish seaside."

Among the comments was Councillor David Saunby for Falmouth Trescobeas, he said:

"As I understand, Falmouth Town Council Planning Committee, are not happy with the design of the new wall, not matching in with granite stone walls in the area, and that the Cornwall Conservation Officer is also not happy.

"The Cornwall Council case officer for the development is also aware of this possible breach of planning permission.

"We will have to wait and see, what the case officer findings are, and if the wall has to be rebuilt, using the same construction of the granite stone walls, in the immediate area."

However, there were some people behind the wall, with some positive comments reading:

"I thought the wall looked quite nice, good craftsmanship and won't fill with weeds. I must be the odd one out but we are all different."

"Just because it's different doesn't automatically mean it's bad."
