A popular fish and chip shop reopened its doors last week and has extended the opening hours as customers flocked to get their fix.

Mariners Takeaway, based on Lower Market Street in Penryn has extended to lunchtime opening hours following a "high demand" for their fish and chips.

Mariners announced their reopening at the beginning of last week but with a few conditions, they said:

"Firstly, we'll only be opening on evenings for the time being. Secondly, our opening hours will be 4pm until 8pm. Thirdly, we are encouraging all customers to telephone their orders in advance (you can pay by card and then you'll be given a time slot to collect your order). Fourthly, we will require all our customers to follow social distancing guidelines when coming to the shop.

"We will still be accepting walk-in orders but customers will be required to wait outside while their food is prepared (we'll call you in when it's ready). We want to support our community during this difficult time and bring you your mariners fix but we ask customers to be patient while we do our best to keep everyone safe and happy.

"Remember our three steps to Mariners heaven which are, phone your order in, pay by card on the phone and then collect the order at your allotted time slot."

Mariners thanked those on social media who showed their support. They added:

"We are so glad to have received so much support from our loyal customers and can't wait to serve some delicious dishes to everyone again this week. Thank you to all of you who came to support us."

The opening times are as follows:

Lunchtime- Thursday/ Friday/ Saturday 11:30- 1:30pm

Evening- Monday - Saturday 4-8pm

You can place your order by calling (01326) 378272.
