A popular Falmouth pub has announced that it will be reopening this weekend with a multitude of new safety measures in place.

The Boathouse, situated on Beacon Street, will be reopening its doors to the public on July 4th.

The pub has asked that anyone showing signs of COVID-19 to kindly stay away from the pub and come back when you feel it is safer to do so.

"Otherwise we look forward to welcoming you back into The Boaty once more," The Boathouse said.

New safety measures will be in place throughout every aspect of the pub experience.

The Boathouse said: "We will be operating a one-way system throughout the pub, beginning with the entrance on Trevethan Hill (our usual front door). You will then be greeted and given a choice of internal/external seating, depending on availability.

"When exiting the building you must leave through the bottom door onto the patio. There will be signage and markings on the floor throughout to guide you."

A new door on Beacon Street has been added to allow access to the toilets. The toilets will have a one-in-one-out system and will be unisex.

The pub will now also feature sanitising stations at several locations throughout the pub.

The Boathouse continued: "We will also be asking for contact details from each household, to be kept on the premises for 21 days.

"This information will only be used in the event that the NHS requires it. This is a new government policy and we ask that you understand and comply with this additional measure.

"You will be able to join with one other household inside the building and up to six others outside, as long as safe social distancing is adhered to - the staff will be monitoring and advising where necessary.

"There will be takeaway cups available for those queuing or wishing to hang out in parks over the road as well. Please be respectful of our neighbours, be responsible for your own litter and maintain social distancing guidelines at all times.

"We will be introducing an ordering app, but fear not technophobes, as we will be providing table service alongside this. It will not be possible to order at the bar at this time.
