Truro and Falmouth's Member of Parliament Cherilyn Mackrory has said she will do 'all it takes' to clean up the River Fal.

Cherilyn is the wife of a small boat fishermen and released a statement outlining her commitment to supporting local fisheries.

Cherilyn said in a statement:

"While I am keen to see the Government properly support all fishermen, both through the pandemic and as we move on from Brexit, I am also committed to doing all I can to help the fishermen locally on the River Fal and the Fal Estuary.

"One way I can do this is by cleaning up the River Fal and upgrading its water classification. This will allow local fishermen to sell the very best, fresh, local produce without the requirement for it to be purified and the red tape that comes with it.

"This will make life easier for local fishermen when it comes to selling and exporting their excellent produce and hopefully, this will also help the fishermen a better price for their catch.

"I am committed to working with the key local stakeholders, including the Fal and Helford Management Forum and Cornwall Wildlife Trust, as well as continuing to support local fishermen and look forward to seeing progress in this important area in the near future."
