A bid to build a new block of flats on Avenue Road Falmouth has been withdrawn.

Submitted by Trevaskis Design Solutions on behalf of the applicant Mr Herron - the plans were to erect three, one-bedroom flats at 9 Avenue Road.

However, the application was met with objections from Falmouth Town Council, Falmouth Civic Society, and neighbouring residents. It has been withdrawn.

Falmouth Town Council recommended refusal of the application, saying: "The proposals seek to cram too much on a small site, flat 2 just conforms to the nationally determined space standards, but flats 1 and 3 fall significantly below and fall slightly below the standard for a single person dwelling."

Falmouth Civic Society added: "The design, although a bit larger than the neighbouring developments, is not significantly out of character. However, it seeks to cram too much on a small site. The three flats are shown as one-bedroom 2-person dwellings. Flat 2 just conforms to the nationally determined space standards, but Flats 1 & 3 fall significantly below, and indeed fall slightly below the standard for a single-person dwelling. The application should be refused and resubmitted in a form that conforms to space standards, probably as two, rather than three flats."

It is unclear whether a revised application will be submitted.
