Plans to turn two shepherd huts and a teepee tent into holiday lets in Trenoweth Lane, Mabe have been refused.
Cornwall Council's planning committee refused the plans deeming it "harmful to the intrinsic character and beauty of the countryside".
Plans were submitted back in October looking to gain permission for a change of use, with space for parking and washing/toilet facilities.
In a conclusion the planning officer stated:
"The proposed development of the site for two shepherd huts and one tepee to be used as holiday lets by reason of the location of the site in the open countryside, divorced from nearby services, facilities and amenities would represent unsustainable new residential development for which no special justification has been adequately demonstrated.
"The proposed access arrangement fails to demonstrate a safe and suitable access for the proposed holiday units and, if permitted, would be detrimental to highway safety as a result of the introduction of additional vehicular movements and subsequent priority T-junction. It is considered therefore that the development is not sustainable."
Mabe Parish Council chose not to support the application, asking for amendments to be made, they added:
- Prevent an extended use as a campsite or additional units.
- To limit use to between Easter and 30 September each year.
- That a safe entrance be made.
