The Penryn and Falmouth Foodbank has said how the community has been "fantastic" in their support during Coronavirus.

Part of The Trussell Trust, the Foodbank provides three days' emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in a crisis.

Catherine Hansla, volunteer and administrator at Penryn and Falmouth Foodbank told Nub News:

"There is no doubt about the generosity in this community and that has been the nice thing, we knew that all along but we didn't know if it would be affected because people can't visit us.

"Most of the phone calls are half and half, people needing help and people asking how they can help.

"It has been very positive, we are still seeing clients and we are still recieving goods. So far we have a lot of donations but we always need more."

Catherine commented on how the Foodbank has had lots of people volunteering which has kept the place going like a "beautifully running machine."

She added:

"I am unsurprised because it is a really fantastic community, there are two or three community groups that have been set up specifically in this area that are helping us out to deliver to people who are in isolation.

"We have never done deliveries before and it is not something we can accommodate so it has been fantastic we have got a second in command group we can call whenever we need to either pick up food or to take food to people who can't get to us personally.

"It is all working really smoothly and just by the fact people have started their own individual community groups, as a community we are all working together."
