The owner of Real Speed in Falmouth is appealing for residents to send in their memories of Shades Nightclub for a "Shades Wall."

The downstairs of Real Speed, based on Quay Street, was where the well-known nightclub used to be until it closed in 2010.

Fiona Speed told Nub News:

"We are looking for any photos of Shades ( the Clubbers, the DJs, the Barmen and women, the doormen, the bouncers etc that people don't mind being either displayed on a Shades wall or used in promotional posters etc.

"For a family-run cafe/bar that we are hoping to open in the basement of the Real Speed shop in June 2021. We want to keep a little slice of the Shades memory alive. We are currently stripping the old nightclub basement and having to address the floor and damp issues at the moment and that could take a while.

"Images can be sent to [email protected] or when my shop is open if they bring in photos I can copy them with my camera. Or hopefully, they will be able to post them on social media."

Falmouth resident Kevin Bishop shared his memories of Shades, saying:

"My lasting memory of Shades, me and my best mate used to call it Shar-day to make it sound more sophisticated.

"Whenever you ever went out on a Friday or Saturday night you always put a pound note in your back pocket so that I had enough entry for Shades and then whatever drinks I could find after that was a bonus."
