Five years of dedication and teamwork has culminated in memorable County Cup final victories for Penryn College's Year 11 Boys' and Girls' football squads in recent weeks.

Both sides hosted Mounts Bay Academy on the College's state-of-the-art synthetic turf pitch, and produced fantastic displays during two all-action encounters to emerge as victors.

Commenting on the achievement, Penryn College Study Support Manager, Jake Ash, said:

"We're really proud that two teams from one year group managed to achieve a relatively unheard of feat in both becoming county champions.

"The players put in a lot of hard work in training and went months without playing a match, but their attitude never wavered. I'm delighted for them."

Additionally, earlier this month, Penryn's Year 8 Boys' squad reached the County Cup final in their age category and faced familiar opponents in the shape of Mounts Bay.

Despite suffering a defeat, Ash highlighted his pride for the squad:

"The boys came up against a really strong Mounts Bay side, who deserved the victory on the day, but the future looks really promising for our Year 8 players.

"They had a brilliant run, and Mr Shepherd - our Year 8 coach - deserves great credit for all of the work he has put in with the squad."
