A group of local secondary school students have had their costume designs celebrated and showcased in style, as part of a collaborative project with Falmouth University and local clothing companies.

During a recent trip to Mawnan Smith's Trebah Garden, Penryn College's pupils modelled their self-made clothing in front of Falmouth University Fashion Photography students Kira Visick and Rachel Parkinson.

On a sun-soaked day, Kira and Rachel captured pupils' ocean-themed streetwear and bohemian creations, which featured core decorations structured with shibori dye, silk painting, printing, dye transfer, free motion embroidery, stencil spray painting, and more.

While reflecting on her students' work, Penryn College Textile, Art & Fashion Design Teacher, Ms A, said: "It's been amazing to witness the creativity, ambition, and talent demonstrated by these pupils.

"They've shown resilience and dedication after recovering from the Covid lockdowns to create unique, commercially viable designs, and we're really proud of them."

Ms A went on to thank everyone involved in making the day such a success, she said: "A big thank you to the clothing companies; Kira and Rachel for taking such beautiful photos; Tracy Campbell [Trebah Visitor Services Coordinator] for facilitating the photoshoot; Ms Stambridge [Penryn College Teaching Assistant] for working as our makeup artist; and everyone else who played a part in making the day so special,".
