A local company is in the running to be named one of the best rural businesses in the UK after being shortlisted for a regional Rural Business Award.
Via Ferrata, Penryn, will battle it out against fellow rural businesses, entrepreneurs, and enterprises from across the region for a place at the national final.
The regional final will be held virtually in October 2021, with the National Final taking place early next year.
Via Ferrata Cornwall, launched by local charity BF Adventure in 2020, provides award-winning outdoor adventure activities with all profits supporting BF Adventure's charitable services for Cornwall's most in need young people.
The leading activity is the Via Ferrata, a unique high wire adventure that sees participants journeying through historic granite quarries by scaling cliff faces, braving the high wire bridge, tackling high challenges, and finishing with the zip wire finale.
So much more than just an adrenaline rush, the experience allows people to push their limits in a completely safe environment, have fun, conquer fears and feel an incredible sense of achievement at the end.
The Rural Business Awards 2021/2022, in partnership with Amazon, will mark the Awards' seventh year of celebrating the success of businesses across the UK's rural economy.
The awards are organised by rural businesses for rural businesses with the aim of celebrating the achievements of rural businesses and developing a strong network for rural business owners.
Speaking after being shortlisted for an award, Adrian Richards from Via Ferrata Cornwall said:
"It's fantastic that our incredible and hardworking teams are now being recognised for both the life-changing and at times life-saving work they do with highly vulnerable young people and now with our public-facing and profit-generating activity centre Via Ferrata Cornwall.
"We've been on an incredible journey over the last few years and this nomination reflects the dedication and commitment of our teams to deliver incredible outdoor challenge-based experiences that are so much more than just an adrenaline rush."
The Rural Business Awards is the brainchild of Leicestershire businesswomen Anna Price and Jemma Clifford, who wanted to showcase the wealth of entrepreneurial talent in rural areas of Britain.
Director and Co-Founder of The Rural Business Awards, Jemma Clifford, added:
"On behalf of everyone at the Rural Business Awards, we want to say well done to Via Ferrata Cornwall and wish them luck ahead of the regional finals."
