Pennycomequick's James Luck and Mark White have shared a message on social media explaining that they will be leaving the pub.

"We're sure some of you may have heard, but it is time to officially tell you all, with great sadness, that we have decided to hand in our notice as tenants of Pennycomequick. It hasn't been an easy decision for us to make, but we feel after the difficulties of Covid-19 and now the economic situation and cost of living crises, it is time for us to move on," they said.

The pair will still be running the much-loved pub for another three months but wanted to express their thanks to everyone involved, commenting: "We would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank you all for your incredible love and support over the last five years. It's been a truly wonderful few years; we've met many beautiful humans and made many fond memories.

"We would also like to take a moment to sincerely thank all of our marvellous staff who have worked for us over the years - we appreciate everything you have done for us. Special mention has to go to Stuart Norrie, who has been our Head Chef this whole time and a truly great captain of our kitchen. Thanks must also go to St. Austell Brewery; for the opportunity and your unwavering support."

Back in August business leaders who are part of the British Beer and Pub Association board including St Austell Brewery wrote a letter to the Government explaining the risk of losing many pubs and brewery businesses across the UK due to the rise in energy bills, with reports of '300%' price hikes.

This also comes after the recent news that Skinner's Brewery will be entering administration, there are certainly concerns for our favourite pubs and breweries but Lucky and Whitey hope people will try their best to support them, adding: "This is a trying time for many and we urge you to continue supporting lovely, local, independent businesses, of which we are lucky to have many in Falmouth."
