Falmouth's free community festival Parklive is back for its 10th year, and the first event will take play on Sunday 28th of May, from 12 pm to 17:30 pm.
Unfortunately the first of the six planned events, back in April, had to be cancelled due to a bad weather forecast raising concerns over safety.
The family-friendly festival that takes place in Kimberley Park is organised and produced by Source Fm, the town's community radio station that is made by and for the people who live and work in and around Falmouth and Penryn.
This weekend will be a slightly smaller show than normal with fewer acts, but Parklive will still offer some great musical entertainment with a selection of food and crafts, children's entertainment, and stalls. At some of the Parklive events, there will be representatives from charities like the RNLI.
Although this weekend has less acts than normal, Simon Neild a Source FM presenter and organisers of the festival did confirm that each event this year will have fewer acts so that performers have more time on stage.
Simon was happy to share that the team will also be aiming to provide even more activities in the park this year and make sure there was something for the whole family.
As Parklive is family and community focused there is no alcohol served but there is plenty of fun to be had including family yoga, a raffle, and an ecstatic dancing session.
With all Parklive events free to enter and Source FM being a non-profit community organisation that relies on funding from a variety of sources, the team is always looking for people to support them and Parklive.
There will be the chance to donate in person at each of the Parklive days but you can also make a one-off donation online or become a friend of Source FM which helps keep your community station running and opens up a number of benefits: Become a Source FM Member.
Source Fm also offers the opportunity to sponsor them, you can contact [email protected] or call the office on 07966989021.
Not only does Parklive depend on donations and sponsors but also the help of volunteers, musicians, and food/craft vendors.
Helen Read is a presenter and team member of Source Fm and explained that they are still looking for more people to run stalls and encouraged anyone looking to get involved to contact her at [email protected] or on 07547 571934.
Helen also added just how important it is for people to donate, she said:" Parklive is Falmouth's own celebration of summer and is a great way for the community to raise money for their local radio station and help support local musicians."
After the first event on the 28th of May, there will be four more events: 2nd July, 30th July, 27th of August, and the 24th of September.
