A new coffee house looks set to get outdoor seating after it was approved by the Falmouth Town Council licensing committee.

This week Brandon Hargrave of Koala Karlous on Killigrew Street applied for a pavement licence for seating outdoors as covid concerns rise.

International music writer and producer Brandon opened Koala Karlous earlier this month.

Brandon told the licensing committee the coffee house has been busy since they opened and additional seating would deter people from spending so much time inside right now.

He said:

"In general, I think it will add to the aesthetics of the coffee house, and it is just nice to sit outside on a sunny day rather than indoors.

Councillor Steve Eva commented:

"I love the street culture and sitting outside is great. They do it in Europe and it is brilliant. Most of the places up Killigrew Street now have got chairs outside and as long as Brandon abides by not spreading yourself too far out into the pavement. I think it is the way to go."

The committee voted to support the application - it will now go to Cornwall Council.
