A motorist was stopped by police this afternoon in Falmouth and was found with no tax or an MOT since early last year.

The driver of the van was stopped in Longdowns on the A394.

A spokesperson for Falmouth and Helston police said:

"This van hasn't been taxed or MOT'd since early 2019, seized."

What happens if you avoid an MOT?

Driving without an MOT certificate will not only put you at risk of a large fine, but it would also invalidate your car insurance.

So, there are serious consequences. Driving with an expired MOT certificate essentially means your car is unroadworthy. Technically and legally, it's not safe to drive.

What happens if you drive without tax?

You will be fined if you are found to be driving without road tax, and, if you do not pay, a County Court judgment can be issued or authorities may clamp, tow or even crush your vehicle.
