Local bike-share company Co Bikes is working alongside transport app Passenger to encourage more people to opt for eco-friendlier travel options in the Falmouth area.

A new feature added to the Go Cornwall app and website will allow local residents and visitors to locate hireable electric bikes in their vicinity while travelling, or planning to travel by bus.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of convenient and accessible "micro-mobility" options for travelling to and from bus stops – known as the 'first and last mile' leg of a journey.

Mark Hodgson, Managing Director of Co Bikes said:

"Our electrically assisted bikes make cycling a breeze – even uphill. E-bikes are the ideal easy NetZero transport solution and are truly game-changing.

"Millions of people want a healthier, less congested future and they are now starting to realise that solutions like electric bikes can play a huge part in delivering this."

Co Bikes kickstarted a trial Falmouth network as part of G7. Its success has brought plans to add more stations across Falmouth and Penryn in the coming months.

Mark Collins, Head of Commercial at Go Cornwall Bus, added:

"We wanted to make sure as the largest bus network in the county, that our passengers can link with other sustainable modes to plan their journey, taking cars off the road. Making sure the technology works is the first step, we hope that next, we can build on Co Bikes plans for more stations within Cornwall."
