A new 'library of things' is coming to Penryn, being pushed forward by four Falmouth and Penryn residents who are dedicated to serving the community.

Kernow Library of Things has secured the keys to "The Gentlemen's Hut" on Quay Hill in Penryn, which they will be using to host their forward-thinking store.

The aim of the library is for residents to gain access to items they might not be able to afford or save money on buying things they may only use once.

The store will be completely not for profit - residents will pay a small membership fee for full access to the library, which will then be spent on more stock and repairs.

Members will be able to use the library's online service to browse the catalogue and reserve an item.

The model is heavily similar to that of the popular C.R.A.P page on Facebook.

Jenni Lawson, part of the team setting up the library, told Nub News:

"It's brilliant for those of us who want to save space and save money - many people don't have room to store camping equipment for example, especially if they are only going to use it a couple of times a year.

"If it's useful for someone we want to stock it."

The library is currently accepting donations, they're particularly looking for DIY equipment and camping gear.

The store is hoping to open in September and they're looking for people who want to volunteer to help out.
