A brand new self-defence Korean Karate class is set to come to Penryn this week (at Penryn College) and is looking for people to join its first classes.
ISK Martial Arts Falmouth Ladies is an all ladies martial arts group teaching self-defence, helping to improve fitness, flexibility, and confidence in a supportive and fun environment.
The organiser behind it all is third-degree blackbelt Elly Jahnz, who has been training in Tang Soo Do (Korean Karate) for over 14 years. Elly has had plans for the class for a while now and hopes to provide confidence for those who feel nervous going out now restrictions have lifted.
What will you get out of the classes? Fitness, an understanding of self-defence, gain confidence, the chance to meet new people, and relieve stress.
Elly told Nub News:
"Hopefully the class will be taught in a relaxed and welcoming environment, with everyone working hard and having fun. I want it to be really open and welcoming.
"As it is an all ladies class, I want to make sure the training is female appropriate and beneficial for women's health.
"The community side of it is really important too, I want it to be an opportunity for women to come and train and support each other."
The classes start this week on the 10th June, even offering a free beginners session. The first sessions get underway at Penryn College, 6:30pm-7:30pm.
Due to current guidelines, ISK Martial Arts only has a limited amount of spaces so contact them to book your free spot.
As we're coming back out of lockdown, they are also running a special offer of, choice of bag-gloves, or uniform and no membership fee.
