On Monday afternoon (7th) councillors and cycling enthusiasts came together to celebrate the launch of electrical bikes in Falmouth.

Falmouth and Penryn councillors along with representatives from Co Bikes joined together to launch the summer trial of the bikes in the town.

The power installation is funded by Cornwall Council and the 5 bikes are funded by Co Bikes.

In attendance were Councillor and Deputy Mayor Kirstie Edwards, Falmouth Penwerris Jayne Kirkham, Green Party Dean Evans and Penryn Town Councillor Sinead Hanks.

Deputy Mayor Kirstie Edwards said:

"Huge well done to all involved in this project and lovely to have a mix of Penryn, Falmouth and Cornwall councillors there to celebrate their installation."

How does it all work? Download the Next Bike app, register, rent, park and then return the bike, as easy as that. It is £10 to join (pays for the first trips), then £1 for every 15 minutes. Or you can buy a bike rider minutes bundle and pay just under £2 per hour.

Jayne Kirkham, Cornwall Councillor for Falmouth Penwerris said:

"This was the best thing I've done for ages. You can now rent an electric bike on the Moor, you just need an app and a few quid. I cycled up Quarry Hill without breaking a sweat."
