Yesterday morning was the opening day and test run for new Falmouth coffee business Daily Grind, serving teas, coffees and hot chocolates from a 1970s camper van.

Owned by Jodie Thompson, she has been working in hospitality since she was 16 and always wanted her own cafe.

After coming back from travelling (and getting barista trained) in New Zealand, Jodie worked at cafes in Newquay and Charlestown and the opportunity to purchase the van came up on Facebook during lockdown.

"I just went for it, a bit of a gamble, but I had been thinking about this for over a year so I have had loads of ideas in my head," Jodie told Nub News.

Jodie makes all the cakes herself (from cookies, cheese muffins and bacon muffins with cream cheese).

Full of ideas and she has already begun planning for the summer, sandwiches, salad boxes, smoothies and iced coffees.

Jodie added:

"I am really chuffed, everyone has said really nice things, everyone has been so supportive.

"Also thanks to Falmouth Rugby Club for the support and letting me set up here."

Daily Grind is based at Falmouth Rugby Club, and will be open on Good Friday (check Facebook for timings) and is looking to make it a permanent home for the business.
