The Met Office has put out a yellow weather warning for the whole of Cornwall with strong winds expected between 8 am and 8 pm.

The national weather service has that Storm Antoni "will bring unseasonably windy weather to southern parts of the UK on Saturday."

Falmouth Lifeboat has also warned locals the danger that the weather can cause after they launched two rescues due to strong winds.

Here is what the Met Office has said we can expect:

  • Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible
  • Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen
  • Road, rail, air, and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible
  • Some roads and bridges may close
  • Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
  • Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads, and properties

They have also provided some handy tips for staying safe in strong winds:

  1. Protecting your property from damage and other people from injury
  2. Things you can do before a journey
  3. Driving safely in strong wind
  4. Staying safe when you're at the coast
  5. Avoiding injury if you are out and about
