Falmouth's award-winning theatre group, Young Generation, is delighted to be Cornwall's first amateur theatre group to bring School of Rock to the county.

The musical is based on the smash-hit movie and will be performed on stage at the Princess Pavilion from Tuesday 1 August to Saturday 5 August.

Many of the students involved in the production are from local schools in Falmouth and Penryn although some are from further afield in places like Truro and Wadebridge.

The show follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There, he turns a class of straight-A–Pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school's headmistress finding out?

Zaph Collingwood takes on the lead role of Dewey Finn, Abi Holmes plays strict headmistress Rosalie Mullins, James Skinner is Ned Schneebly and his girlfriend Patty is played by Layla Hillier.

The talented students playing their instruments live on stage every night are Joseph May as Zack, Cara McCandless as Florence, Indiana Dalziel as Casey, and Mawgan Austin-Smith as Freddy.

Ashley Spear returns as Director with Samantha Taylor in charge of choreography and Julia Knight-Bennett as musical director.

School of Rock features all the original songs from the movie as well as 14 new songs composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. 'You're in the Band', 'Stick it to the Man', and 'Teachers Pet' will bring audiences to their feet night after night.

Young Generation is famous for their sell-out shows and standing ovations, it is advised you book your tickets soon to avoid disappointment.

Doors open at 7 pm each night with curtains up at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £12 for adults, £10 for children and are available on their website: TICKETS | younggeneration (falmouthyg.com)
