Local market farm aims to change the way Falmouth is fed

A once thriving and productive walled garden has been quietly sitting there in Flushing, outside of Falmouth Cornwall since World War II.
Last Autumn Trefusis Estate collaborated with Soul Farm to bring it to life and provide fresh veg to the area.
They're aiming for £5k to fund the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program through Crowdfunder.
Cornwall has a vegetable growing culture and Flushing, in particular, is a great spot that is relatively frost-free and has great sunlight.
Laurence Jarrett-Kerr who leads the project feels there need to be more growers everywhere but he's especially spotted a demand in Falmouth with the thriving restaurant scene and people who care about the environment and the way we are fed.
The £5k target is to fund their soil building approach to farming, to buy compost, equipment, irrigation and if they surpass their goals to provide subsidised bursary boxes for lower-income families.
If they smash their goals even beyond that they'll invest in another polytunnel meaning they can grow more during the winter.
Soul Farm supplies Restaurants including Merchants Manor and Rastella where chef Aiden had this to say:
"It's the best salad I've ever had in Cornwall and I've been working as a chef between here and London for 8 years! Thanks a lot for this epic product." (Rastella Restaurant, Falmouth)
The Crowdfunder reads:
"We're looking to connect community and growers so that you know what you're getting.
"Labels like 'organic' become irrelevant because you know exactly where your food comes from.
"We want to build up trust and customers can communicate with the farm and give feedback.
"It's a membership, a club and a team.
"Community involvement is critical to the functioning of the farm."
