A Falmouth charity has said how they "can't wait" to get back to some normality as they announce a reopening date - with a few changes.

Pants Cancer Charity is hoping to reopen on the 16th June with the plan to use the charities unit 2 at Ponsharden Industrial Estate to accept and quarantine donations, and Unit 4 at the industrial estate as the sales floor.

Pants will be selling mainly from outside tables and rails while the weather permits with social distancing easier to adhere to, outside.

Pants Cancers is a registered charity raising awareness of cancers that affect the 'pants' area, whilst funding the Cancer Rehab Centre in Falmouth, Cornwall. Funds are raised at two 'Hubs' and the shop on Webber Street.

Natasha Long, who works at the Pants Charity Shop on Webber Street told Nub News:

"I've really missed seeing our regular customers and I know many customers rely on us for, not only essentials at a great price but also an affordable way to treat themselves whilst supporting a local charity AND following the great ethos of sustainable shopping. Many also visit us as a way to socialise and I know my whole team have missed our regular chats.

"We'll be doing things slightly different, like most retailers, and hope that customers appreciate that there will be trial and error to ensure we get things right, whilst keeping staff and customers safe."

The charity will not be accepting large items such as sofas, display cabinets and other items that will take up limited space.

Pants are also asking people to be extremely mindful of the quality of their donations.

Natasha added:

"We appreciate that 'lockdown' had afforded many people to have a good clear out, and we're looking forward to the generous donations - but, with our finances more stretched than ever we cannot afford to dispose of items that are unsaleable, and we anticipate issues due to the local refuse centres being so restrictive. So, we hope that people take this into consideration before bringing donations to us.

"With the extra donations we anticipate, we're keener than ever to have volunteers come aboard and join our team. We are a small charity, virtually self-funded and can not afford to take on large numbers of paid staff as a lot of larger charities.

"We rely on the generosity of our current staff members who give voluntary time on top of their regular hours, & we would greatly benefit from help from the local community.

"Pants Cancers is a unique local charity, & Jeannette has worked tirelessly, throughout the time the shops have been closed, to ensure we survive these difficult times and can continue to support those affected by awful Cancers that occur in the 'Pants' area.

"Though the past few months have been so difficult, and shaken our charity (like so many other charities & businesses) we are determined to bounce back and make Pants Cancers more successful than ever."
