An outcry of anger at housebuilding division, Linden Homes, has occurred on social media.

Photos and videos were posted on Friday showing a large liquid runoff leaking from drains close to their new housing development in Swanpool.

The runoff seemed to be causing large puddles in the road and was leading directly into the sea.

Linden Homes has responded to the pictures and videos in a statement, saying:

"The water shown in this video will be coming from the existing surface water drainage system, following the high levels of recent rainfall, as we can confirm that our development has not yet been connected."

Posts onto Facebook were commenting on the damage the runoff will possibly do to the sea and the environment.

One post read:

"It's pretty disgusting and certainly can't be good for the beach or the environment, especially when I know the sort of pollutants used on these sites."

Another post commented:

"Should never have been given planning permission anyway."
