Kernow Library of Things to celebrate third year anniversary with open day

The Kernow Library of Things (KLOTH) is a community-based scheme that is located in Penryn. This month they will be celebrating a special anniversary.

Kloth is an ongoing project, that provides people in the surrounding area access to items such as tents, power tools, garden tools, and kitchen gadgets in an affordable way.

They allow members of the community to borrow items for a small cost rather than buying an expensive item that may only be occasionally needed and take up valuable space in people's homes.

To celebrate its 3rd year anniversary, Kloth is holding an open day on Saturday 16 September (10:30 am - 3 pm). The team is inviting people to try out some of the things they can lend, find out more about what they do, and chat about how KLOTH can support people in the local community. 

Back in May, they received £10,000 in National Lottery Community funding which they hope will grow the project to ensure that it is accessible to everyone.

Established in 2020, Kernow Library of Things has a simple but hugely beneficial ethos; "Borrow don't Buy".

A spokesperson said; "The financial and environmental benefits from sharing resources in this way are huge, and KLOTH believes that if we can get the whole community borrowing rather than buying new, we can make big changes together.

"Join us at the open day for refreshments, games, the chance to try out some of the things, and to sign up for membership so that you can start borrowing, saving money, and reducing waste."

KLOTH is currently open at these times:

• Monday - 10 am - 2:30 pm
• Thursday - 7 pm - 8:30 pm
• Saturday - 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
