An investigation is underway after reports of harassment of university students in Penryn.

Originally posted on social media, a warning was shared on a student platform warning others of an incident between ASDA and Penryn Campus (evening of the 4th September) with two men harassing students in a dark car.

Now, Falmouth University has responded after concerns amongst the student community, liaising with the police as they begin their investigation.

Issued by Falmouth University, they stated, "harassment and assault of any kind will not be tolerated in our community."

Addressing students, Falmouth and Exeter Universities commented:

"We have been made aware of an incident that took place near Penryn Campus yesterday when students were approached by strangers in a vehicle as they walked.

"We are writing to let you know that the universities are liaising with the police to investigate and to reassure you that this is being taken seriously.

"If you have witnessed or been affected by an incident on our campuses or in the wider community, we encourage you to report via Falmouth and Exeter Speaks Out (which can be anonymous), and to get the support you may need.

"If you feel you are a victim of a crime please contact the Police by calling 101."

Devon and Cornwall Police have been approached for further comment.
