Back in October, I spoke to Holly Astle an illustrator based in Falmouth that uses her local surroundings for inspiration such as coastal walks and the wildlife surrounding them with an aim to 'capture the essence of Cornwall'.

After seeing one of Holly's murals down by the Castle Beach Cafe I discovered she has actually painted four murals in the area, you can read about and see each of the murals in the Nub News article here: Meet the artist behind Falmouth's murals.

Holly has now completed her fifth mural and this time it's at Mylor Bridge Community Primary School, to help brighten up the playground. Holly said the theme was "source to sea" to get the children engaged with their local natural environment.

When speaking to Holly about how she was approached by the school, I mentioned that every mural she paints seems to lead to the opportunity for another one and this time was no different. Holly said: "One of the mums called Polly, saw me doing the castle beach mural and asked if I'd be interested! I had a group of dedicated volunteers to help which was mostly parents from the school."

I asked Holly how the response has been from the school after so much positivity from her other work, she said: "Yeah I had a lot of cheeky, curious kids coming up to me throughout and they seem to love it. The teachers seem to really love it too, they say it's transformed the playground."

Be sure to look out in the future for any more murals being painted as Holly says she hopefully has a few more in the works and will be doing them next year when it warms up again.
