Gylly Beach Cafe have said the hospitality trade is "on its knees" as it reduces its hours because of staff shortages.

In a statement released this afternoon, the cafe said it would be closed Mondays and Tuesdays for the foreseeable future.

Like many businesses, they are suffering a severe lack of available trained staff and professionals within the industry.

"This is not something we have taken lightly, but it is necessary to protect our existing, fabulous, hardworking team, and ultimately our future business in these unprecedented times," a spokesperson for the cafe said.

Gylly Beach is the latest business behind The Chainlocker to have reduced their hours.

Last week, the Chief Executive of St Austell Brewery pubs, including The Chain Locker in Falmouth, urged government support over a serious staffing shortage in the hospitality sector.

Gylly Cafe added:

"We will carry on recruiting and training so that we may re-open 7 days a week at the earliest possible opportunity, but until then, we hope you can understand our decision.

"Please bear with us in these difficult times and visit us with a sunny smile from Wednesday to Sunday when we will welcome you from 9am until late."
