A new exhibition showcasing the work of a group of talented local artists opened on Thursday 30th July.

The exhibition is in the Poly's Spring Gallery and features a selection of work from eight exhibitions that unfortunately had to be postponed due to The Poly's temporary closure as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jane Smith, Galleries Manager at The Poly, said:

"We're proud to announce this exhibition, which highlights the talent of our community of artists here in Falmouth and Cornwall. There's such a diverse range of mediums and approaches to creativity exhibited in these works, we have everything from ceramics to paintings, and glasswork to textiles.

"We're very grateful for the support of these artists who kindly left us with their deposits in what has been a very precarious and difficult time for the arts. This exhibition is our way of thanking those artists and giving the public a preview of what's to come in exhibitions at The Poly in the future."

Among the exhibiting artists from the group Time and Tide is Cornish landscape artist and printmaker Michael Brett, who said:

"After this period of isolation, the Rescheduled exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for artists to bring their work together communally to support The Poly and demonstrate the wealth of local talent."

The exhibition will remain open until Saturday 12th September, and is free to enter. The exhibiting artists and groups are John Goodwin, Arc, Textiles Plus Group, Time and Tide, Corinne Detain, Paul Ryan, Alicia Trewhella and Jennie Jewitt-Harris.

Falmouth-based mixed media experimenter Sue Davis from group exhibition Arc added:

"Fate took over for a while and everything stopped but The Poly is forging ahead and generously putting together a mixed exhibition of those exhibitors that had to stand back for a while as Covid-19 raged."
