On Sunday, Greenpeace volunteers spoke to people in Falmouth, calling on the fast-food company to stop 'flame-grilling' the Amazon rainforest.
Forest fires in the Amazon have been raging throughout the summer, many started deliberately by farmers, emboldened by the Brazilian President's policies to expand agriculture.
Burger King admitted in a statement to the BBC that it knows the chicken and some of the beef it sells in the UK is fattened on animal feed made with soya and the fast-food giant also admitted on social media that it buys chicken directly from Brazil.
Tom Pine from Mongleath Road said: "I joined Greenpeace volunteers today because although the Amazon is more than 5000 miles away, there's a Burger King on all of our doorsteps.
"Most people order fries with their burger, but this fast-food chain is serving up forest fires as well. That's why we're telling Burger King to stop sourcing meat and soya from Brazil until the Amazon and its people are protected."
Members of the public signed the petition and wrote messages to Burger King, including Robin Markland's: "Just stop burning the Amazon forests for your short-term profits. There are no profits on a dead planet."
People also wrote about why they are reducing their own meat consumption.
Tom continued: "Like many local people I spoke to throughout the afternoon, I am very concerned by the forest fires raging through the Amazon that are ravaging the home of millions of species and decimating the lands of indigenous communities.
"There are things we can do to protect the forests of our planet and reduce the impact on our climate. Please join me in reducing your meat consumption and sign our petition to fast food companies."
