Falmouth Hotel is playing host to a garden party fundraiser to raise money for music therapy in Cornwall.
The event is being organised by the Cornwall Music Service Trust's Music Therapy team, who area team of state-registered music therapists working across the county.
CMST was originally in the Cornwall Music Service providing instrumental lessons and groups through the Council. It was axed in 2014.
The team didn't give up in the face of adversity though, and after being made redundant from the Council - they started working under the Cornwall Music Service Trust's banner to carry on their services across the County.
Nub News Falmouth spoke to Emma Packer, a music therapist organising the event, she said:
"Music therapy isn't supported by Government or Council, we are completely paid for by the people that we work with.
"We want to continue doing the work we do and supporting the people we support, but without raising some money ourselves it's becoming much harder."
The fundraiser is set to take place on the 23rd June from 1pm-6pm and is said to feature 'music, games and mayhem'.
The money raised is going to be spent on the ongoing work of CMST and to allow them to offer subsidised sessions to hidden and harder to reach members of the community across Cornwall.
The trust works closely with adults and children who are living with trauma, disability and learning difficulties.
There will be music on the lawn from local acts Jordan Jane and Black Eyed Nancy, as well as International Folk bands Teyr and Davey & Dyer.
Family activities will be taking place throughout the event: from Cornish and Indian dancing lessons to a giant jenga and connect four tournament.
Jordan Jane, a local musician who will be playing the event, said:
"I can't wait to play the fundraiser, it's a great thing for the community. Raising awareness around music therapy is really important and i'm honored that I've been asked to be a part of that.
"I play locally at lots of events and festivals. After topping just over 150,000 streams worldwide this year, I would love to give something back to the people.
"I have a few friends that work in the music therapy field and I've always been so inspired about the amount it can help people. The sole act of engaging people in music seems to really lift spirits and I think can quite often change lives."
