A Falmouth pub in the heart of the town has announced it will be reopening its doors at the end of this week, following three months of working tirelessly to better their establishment.

The Seven Stars, situated on The Moor, will be getting back to a 'new normal' when they reopen at midday on Friday 17th July.

Since the pub's closure, landlady Amy Bennetts says she "took a negative situation and turned it into as positive as it can be."

Building and restoration have taken the forefront during lockdown and Amy says the pub has managed to achieve things it's wanted to do for a long time.

"We've found lots of great family history which is now proudly being displayed on the walls, even if customers can't come into the bar for a little while we're excited for them to see it when they finally can come in," Amy told Nub News.

The pub, like many establishments over the pandemic, ran into financial difficulty as lockdown hit and the hospitality industry had to close.

Amy said: "Although it's been super tough to have my income just completely stop since March I'm super excited to be looking forward and building a brighter future for my family business."

Speaking on the upcoming reopening, Amy told Nub News she feels an "overwhelming sense of trepidation and excitement all put into one."

She added: "We can't wait to see all of our locals even if things may be a little different from the usual. But we also fully understand that some of our locals are still not feeling confident in coming out but we will still support them regardless."

Amy is the seventh generation of her family to be behind the bar in The Seven Stars, which is thought to have been in the town since 1660.

There have been no shortcuts on safety measures, and Amy has detailed the changes that customers will experience on social media.

Amy said: "We can only offer outside seating which remains at 2m social distancing, all but the toilet facilities inside the pub are open and these are a one in one out.

"There may only be a couple of benches outside on Friday or we may have all 8 (fingers crossed) so seating may be at a premium.

"We'll have little signs dotted everywhere reminding you of our new way of working (see pictures below) so please please in order for us to keep you safe & remain open please respect them.

"To begin with over the next few weeks our cask offering may be a little limited to gauge business."

Before closing for lockdown, The Seven Stars was picking up prescriptions and delivering beers to their customers who were unable to visit the pub due to being in isolation.
