Falmouth: Work to start on stabilising Quarry car park slope
Work to stabilise the quarry face at Town Quarry car park Falmouth will begin soon lasting up to 12 weeks.
There is no exact date yet - Cornwall Council says it will commence as soon as the legal agreements are in place.
Working hours will be between the hours of 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, with some weekend working, however noisy operations will be restricted between 8am and 5pm.
Temporary fencing will be installed to give the teams a safe working area, and access to some car parking spaces will be restricted while the works take place.
To provide access for the repairs, they will start by clearing vegetation from the quarry face using roped access and elevated work platforms.
This will be followed by the drilling of rock pins and anchors, into the quarry face, which will address the slope instability.
Following this, sections of the rock face will have geotechnical netting installed, to further stabilise it. The site team will be based in a compound located within the car park.
"Please be assured we will do all that we can to minimise the disruption to the local community and residents," Cornwall Council added.
